After your CF50PA Series filter has been installed, follow these steps to start the system for the first time. Proper startup helps ensure safe operation and optimal filtration performance.
Before starting
Before turning on the system, verify the following:
- The filter is installed correctly.
- All plumbing connections are secure.
- The filter cartridge is properly installed.
- All valves are in the correct operating position.
- The pool water level is adequate.
- The pump has been primed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Starting the system
- Turn on the pump.
- Allow the system to begin circulating water.
- Check the pressure gauge for a normal operating reading.
- Inspect the filter housing and plumbing connections for leaks.
- Listen for any unusual noises from the pump or filter.
- Verify that water is returning to the pool with a steady flow.
Allow the system to run for several minutes while monitoring its performance.
Record the clean filter pressure
Once the system is operating normally, note the pressure gauge reading. This is your clean filter pressure and can be used as a reference for future maintenance.
As the cartridge collects dirt and debris, the pressure will gradually increase. A noticeable rise in pressure usually indicates that the cartridge should be cleaned.
After startup
Once the startup process is complete:
- Check the system periodically during the first few hours of operation.
- Confirm that there are no leaks.
- Ensure water is circulating properly.
- Monitor the pressure gauge for consistent readings.
If the system does not start
If the system does not operate as expected:
- Verify that the pump is properly primed.
- Check the pool water level.
- Confirm that all valves are open.
- Inspect the plumbing for blockages.
- Make sure the power supply to the pump is functioning correctly.
